I'm no fan of Abbot, or for that matter any of our pollies, but what he is doing has more merit than sitting on his srse like the others are currently doing.
He is going there during a break. Can you imagine the coalition uproar if he went when Parliament was sitting, especially after the other day?
Good on him for volunteering. And it is volunteering whether he gets paid or not. Recently an Alcoan worker missed a shift to fight a fire in WA and the company docked his wages. There was an outcry and Alcoa backed down.
Whether he actually achieves anything or not isn't important, at least he's having a go.
That's what being a volunteer is all about.
It's may be only thing about him i like, but that's one more than Turnbull or Shorten.
He did the same thing when PM but i didn't hear anyone saying it was a stunt, even though it was no doubt paid for by us all and likely to have cost much more.
