Good point Mr Wilcox, big business will imo hold off or reduce staff in order to maintain returns to shareholders.

As i said before ,the next 3 years are going to be a rough ride for families under Tony Abbott,he just doesn't think about the effects of his ridiculous policies.

You just can't trust Tony Abbott.

"Mr Willox says the scheme will also be a disincentive for big business to employ more staff."

    Abbott's leave plan nonsense: Group.

Australian Industry Group chief executive Innes Willox says the federal opposition's paid parental scheme does not make any sense.

Opposition leader Tony Abbott has said if his party wins the September election it will introduce a paid parental scheme which offers 26 weeks' paid leave for women earning up to $150,000.

But Mr Willox says it will be a burden on business and will not attract more women to the workplace.

"We don't think this scheme makes any sense on any way that you look at it," he told the ABC's Inside Business.

"On grounds of equity, on grounds of productivity, on grounds of attracting women in to the workplace."

Mr Willox says the scheme will also be a disincentive for big business to employ more staff.

"About 3200 businesses are having to pay an enormous amount of money to subsidise the rest," he said.

"We don't think that makes sense. That's a disincentive for them to employ."

He says the current system of 18 weeks' leave at minimum wage works well and there is no reason to change it.
