Boatboy, when Tony Abbott became PM Australians were deemed the wealthiest people on Earth by Credit Suisse. Our economy was rated the strongest on Earth due to its world-best macroeconomic KPIs and carried a AAA rating from all major ratings agencies. Public debt was just ~12% of GDP and less than 1/8th that of the UK and the USA.
That was anything but a mess and the problems emerging today are due to Abbott.
Abbott was elected because of the great big promises HE made and following the damage he inflicted on Julia Gillard for breaking her promise not to introduce the CT/ETS.
Well it now clear that Abbott lied his way into office and is turning his back on the greatest single responsibility any government has - the provision of support to those in need and the vulnerable, even transferring what little they have to those who already have most of the wealth.
Abbott never told Australians that he was going to do that, explaining why his rotten 2014 Budget was so badly received.
