The decision by Tony Abbott's Government in November 2013 to deny having plans to knee-cap the CSIRO and to ruthlessly do so in the budget would also not have been lost on the UN and wider global community.

To quote from Noel Towell, Mark Kenny, Bridie Smith's report of 8.11.14 entitled; "Razor taken to CSIRO":

"On Friday, Mr Abbott denied that his government was responsible for any potential job cuts at CSIRO.

"We haven't made any cutbacks to the CSIRO. The management of the CSIRO and the employment of staff inside the CSIRO and the management of contractors for the CSIRO is a matter for the CSIRO itself," he said. ..."
