Have you ever meet some one and had a gut feeling first impression that there is something not right about them but you give them the benefit of doubt only to see their actions confirm your first impressions.
That is my take on Abbott and I put it down to a high level of Machiavellianism
Evidence of this is his windvane attitude to policy and statements, he seems to do and say what he thinks people will like but I think people can see through him and hence he is so unpopular.
