Sheesh; Abbott apologieis are becoming daily events!

From Simon Cullen's report on the ABC Online:

"... But Mr Abbott criticised the move, arguing it did not reflect the real cost of having more than one child.
"Often, one child is still in the cot when the second one comes along, one child is still in the pram when the second one comes along," he told Channel Seven this morning.
"So you actually need to get an extra cot or a double-sized pram.
"I think if the Government was a bit more experienced in this area, they wouldn't come out with glib lines like that." .."

"Tony Abbott has rejected suggestions he was referring to the Prime Minister's lack of children when he criticised cuts to the baby bonus payment, but says he is happy to apologise if she was offended. ..."

In a world that already has 7b+ people that will swell to 12b by 2050; I think it's obscene to be encouraging people to have even more babies via incentives such as the 'baby bonus'. As for reducing it from $5,000 to $3,000 after the first child, why not just abolish it altogether?

If Abbott seriously expects us to believe that the extra $2,000 for each extra child is to pay for great big gold-plated prams and cots .... fair dinkum, does he have any clues at all?

Making such an offensive, stupid and thoughtless comment can only have been a low blow targeting Julia Gillard's childless status - consciously or unconsciously. It's come way too soon after his idiotic outburst in Parliament that added to Alan Jones's tasteless comment.

If Abbott could hear what our daughter had to say when she heard the report his red ears would have spontaneously combusted - she almost died from an entopic pregnancy and its aftermath and like so many childless women hurts deeply because of 'experience'.
