@Hinchinbrook; some people still seek to blame voting systems for electoral outcomes, thereby insulting the intelligence of voters.

In my seat of Indi the Liberals lost one of the safest federal seats in Australian political history because they took voters for granted - Sophie Mirabella even campaigned outside her seat until even the support of the Libs most senior ministers couldn't rescue her. Those who wanted Mirabella gone made certain it happened and no voting system was going to prevent such.

At the May 2022 Election similar responses from voters in inner urban seats historically considered to be safe Liberal seats repeated the Indi experience - the Libs were reduced to a virtual all male rump.

Next up it's likely we'll see further Liberal Party losses of 'safe seats' with Labor also experiencing that trend. Albanese has already alienated Australians concerned about the ongoing slaughter of Palestinian civilians and his slow progress on addressing global warming means the Australian Greens will be big winners and possibly some independents as well.
