The Opposition is guilty of exactly what they've accused Kevin Rudd 2007-10 of doing. Coalition MPs are desperately trying to learn their daily lines fed to them by Abbott's propaganda machine. They have almost no influence after having sat on their policy-development hands for four long years.

Given Abbott's modis operandi of populist announcements on the run they are flat chat trying to second guess what he will say next. Fortunately for them thus far they've been helped along by the now outed Murdoch media.

But the confronting and crude front pages run by the Murdoch media are now squarely right in the faces of mainstream Australians; who will now have to weigh up the role it has played in de-stabilising and denigrating the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Govts.

Mainstream Australians should not have been played for suckers and there is a very real risk for Abbott that they will send him and Murdoch an electoral message they won't like or forget.
