are they teaching the Bible in terms of this is "the truth" or as a context for the history of Western civilisation? to ignore the Bible would not really create a rounded education, even if you don't happen to believe in it. We were taught about the Bible and also Judaism at school, just like other philosophy I think it is an important part of learning.

Christianity and Western Civilisation / the Roman Empire are inextricably linked and provide context to history.
