"Having had family living in Indonesia - speaking the language fluently - excellent business and other local contacts throughout the local community - going back decades within our family - Abbott's idea is nothing short of brilliant. It may work - it may not. But at least worth a try."

Actually it is probably as good a way as any to start to manage the coming difficult transition period and start to wind back this massive problem Rudd has created of the ongoing incredibly profitable people smuggling business in Indonesia...

It will certainly make the transition for the powerful Indonesians involved somewhat more acceptable and allow some time for this catastrophic Rudd-created problem to be unwound without the Indonesians feeling that they have been short-changed and cheated by the Australian government suddenly changing policy on then from maintaining the Rudd-created massive and irresistible honey-pot of a lifetime of welfare freebies and open, unconttrolled borders, to restoration of common sense in government under Tony Abbott...

    Seems worth a try...

Of course there will always be some low-lifes and scoundrels who will try to take advantage of any initiative, but that is what we have jails for anyway...
