If you actually watched the program, you might have a more nuanced view.
In relation to your earlier comment about language confusion, one point made on Four Corners was that the government has decided to use English as the language of school instruction, which is an interesting decision in itself.
On the question of Woodside and Conoco Phillips, which were the main companies being targeted, the government's emphasis seems to be on getting them to pay taxes due and stop misrepresenting the technical difficulties of onshore processing for Browse. The woman who is the finance minister (Timorese, ex-World Bank or IMF - can't remember which) obviously knows her onions.
I agree that in the long run Timor Leste probably needs the project more than Woodside, but given that they're one of our closest neighbours, and one with strong links to Australia, it would be nice if an Australian company could avoid appearing as the big bad wolf.
