Far worse or not, no point in bringing in commercial stations to cloud the issue of the ABC stupidity.
Channel 9 is a commercial station answering to share holders and funded mainly from advertisers. I don't have to pay for it
I had a choice not to watch the Read interview, and I didn't. I didn't pay for it and if the advertisers and shareholders are happy with the interview, so be it.
I have however known advertisers to pull their financial support from commercial stations if the stations have gone over the top or acted inappropriately
I had a choice whether to watch the Mallah Q and A episode, I knew what was coming because the time delay here in WA
I chose not to watch.
The problem is I still have to pay for it and don't forget the ABC is answerable to it's shareholders, the Australian taxpayer.
Therefore the taxpayer has every right to question the wisdom of Q and A. And The Australian Government as funder of the ABC has every right to consider it's funding to the ABC.
No excuses is going to change the fact that the ABC has a charter, and if it chooses to ignore it for it's own political agenda, then they deserve totally the back lash it has experienced.
