The EU utilities will very likely use the WaveHub and EMEC test centres as the final decision making criterion for approval or otherwise. Direct comparisons of different WEC devices can be made. Whatever works well there will be thoroughly applauded. CWE cannot afford to have any mishaps under that kind of scrutiny. After arrival it should be possible to deploy Model C6B in quick time with confidence and with much publicity by prearrangement. How do you unveil a novel wave energy generator in public when it’s underwater?
The C6 doesn’t actually have any power take off other than the design of Bosch Rexroth. MO did mutter once, “If they can’t do it then we will do it ourselves”. Well, I have no illusions about that one. There is no choice. B-R has already progressed the PTO development considerably, they know what they are doing, have the expertise, and the time interval. (But at what cost?) The C6A has at least two years+ to go and all CWE has to do is leave an appropriate space in the BA design for the PTO. Final assembly and shake down will then occur off GI, and it has to work like clockwork. (But you know the elastic time frames of CWE.)
