Hi Adrian9737,
To answer your question from my perspective at some point in the future I will look at converting profits from Silver and Gold into income producing property.
Having said that it could be a few more years before I am ready to do that.
I have dual UK and Australian citizenship and as I am now retired I will divide my time in both countries.
Around two years back I saw a property I liked the look of in the UK the asking price was 1M GBP. Since that time a few different things have happened.
1: The property remains unsold and the asking price has dropped to 850K GBP.
2: The Gold price is up better than 35% over the last two years.
3: My AUD now buys me 64 pence instead of the previous 42 pence.
As you can see I would now need to sell significantly less gold today than two years back to purchase that property. Of course I know I would not be buying a house in a viable country as the UK is a financial accident waiting to happen. However, I am retired and do not need to find work, fuel cost are double what they are here but food is around 40% less there.
I guess the difficult part about this decision is how much longer I wait to convert my gold / silver into property. At some point I will jump but for now I have not even paced out my run up for the jump.
When I do decide to move out of gold and into a house I will need to get the timing just right so my first crop of home grown vegetables from my UK garden are ready to pick just prior to the total systemic collapse in the major world economies.
I am sure I am on the right path the timing will be the real tricky part.
I hope my personal strategy is of some use to you in your own planning I guess by you asking these questions you are also on the correct path.
Just as a side note I was born in 1953 in the UK, on my last visit my sister had a 1955 newspaper article (some family matter) the paper had an ad for local beer
(Hi Bernard) at one shilling a pint. 20 pints of bitter for one pound. That same night trying to get out more I paid 3 pounds for a pint of beer in a local pub. So in 56 years we have witnessed a 60:1 increase in the humble pint of UK beer.
By the way I do enjoy the occasional beer but I am not fixated but it certainly makes you think when you see a very real example like that.
As always just shared thoughts.
Cheers: Andy
