Wave generation is at least 20 years behind were wind generation is at present. They have a long, long way to go and it will require government support to make the projects financially viable. I do feel that that the wave generation technology has several advantages of wind turbines.
I live in Europe and there isn’t much hype about wave generation and we pay substantially more per kW/hr then in Australia. People all like the idea of environmentally safer forms of generation, but it all comes down to money. The generation companies recognise that they need different sources of generation, be it nuclear, hydro, gas, oil, wind, biomass or coal. The cheapest for large base load is still coal, but this could change with the new carbon capture and clean coal technology. Time will tell.
