Spottygoose, (now there's a decent nic), having been involved with developing large Government capital projects for years and years until very recently, no one should be the smallest bit surprised by the odd bit, or even concerted bit, of complaining.
One particular recall of mine is the fact that when asked eighty per cent of the public want better public transport. But eighty per cent also say that they don't want it when it is proposed in their area!
The fact is large capital projects of any kind create fears in the local populace, and CXY's power plant will be no different. The key will be how CXY react to the complaints. Ignorance doesn't work, believe me I've tried it, . . . . . engagement doesn't work, believe me I've tried it, . . . . . involvement doesn't work, believe me I've tried it, . . . get the picture?
The only thing that I've had limited success with, is to ensure that the PR actions/re-actions demonstrate a substantial degree of empathy with the "apparent plight" of local complainants. If this can be achived then it is also possible to get some of the former approaches to work as well.
If asked, I'm available for consultancy . . . .
