Just nutty eulogising stuff on Gough with no basis in fact . He had less than 3 years in the job. If he had've fluked another 3 he would've been the most despised leader this country has ever seen. His government was a complete shambles

But yeah ,erect a statue ,he said some really funny things and by all accounts one on one he wasn't too bad a guy even if he did stick it up the Timorese and run for cover every time his government faced a real issue . The only crisis he ever faced up to was when Kerr had had a little too much sherry ,probably his finest moment ,ironically. So yeah ,respect to the man . I also liked his missus ,she was funny as well.

What is it with Jon Faine ,he surely has to be on the payroll no one can be that biased even if they tried

in 1972 3/4 of uni students were there on commonwealth scholarships awarded on merit irrespective of parent wealth or status. free uni courses introduced by gough saved rich parents from paying fees.
