what the abc didn't tell the public! Thank you for providing that. I notice that the Report by a journalist for the little investors indicates a lack of pulse. Those investors should be aware of concerns in the USA where heart assist devices have been around for 14 years that there is this cautionary note for the experimenters like Ventracor:

A new generation of VADs, designed for permanent use, which are still in the research stage, and certain VADs in use or being developed for bridge-to-transplantation are non-pulsatile devices. Intended to be smaller than traditional pulsatile VADs, these new devices provide continuous blood flow without pulsing action. In diseased arteries, where narrowings are common, cellular aggregates can build up behind each narrowing, like debris behind a rock in a stream. The heart's natural pulsing action helps to clears away these cell aggregates. Without this pulsatile action, a clot could eventually form, grow, and become dislodged to cause a stroke, heart attack or other medical problem.

ABIOMED believes that in order for a non-pulsatile device to work for a patient suffering from cardiovascular disease, the heart must still be capable of providing sufficient pumping action to maintain pulsatility thus keeping clots from forming. In addition, ABIOMED believes that the brain, the kidneys, and the inner walls of the natural heart (the "endocardium") require pulsatility to remain viable
