Thanks for that. It was always going to be THE major outcome of a carbon price and ETS .. which are aimed at making alternatives to coal more viable and renewables don't kick in until more like $100/t CO2, so gas is the fuel of transition.
Despite the starting price being a little low at $23/t the ETS is starting sooner at 3 years rather than the anticipated "up to 5 years" ... which overall should set the right tone for a boom in gas. NSW will be no exception and in fact it needs the greatest amount of new power gen capacity.
