The ABC has done it again - with their ALP / Green agenda they have just misrepresented the significances within the UCG story. They have assisted the attempted destruction of a greener alternative to base load power needs just to save the backsides of authorities, and should be brought to task for this abomination.
The sign at the end of the "story" stated - "UCG is toxic" and I would contend that reporting like this is toxic not UCG. No comparison was made with pollution caused by alternate base load power generation or it might have made UCG look like a superior solution - which is is.
The one reading that exceeded a drinking water standard was trotted out, along with the false reading in a nice bar chart which enforced the "exceedence" rather than putting it into any meaningful perspective. To the average viewer the message got through that there were big bars of toxic pollution emitted by this "new" technology.
I would hazard to guess the snippets of the Richard King interview that were used in this report were not the strongest part of his argument either.
That was typical rubbish media reporting and the ABC should be ashamed. Those of us that know the facts can see right through the agenda of the ABC and I am personally disgusted. This is not the first time I have seen this behavior so I am not surprised. It makes you wonder if any of their reports have any balance - is it all this standard?
That was an injustice to shareholders, UCG, the environment and Cougar Energy.
