I agree with your comment. However I find that the ABC uses its news service to promote various social issues that the ABC supports but could hardly call them "news" as there is no specific material event being reported on. These seem to take up about 50% of the second half of the ABC news. These items belong in the 7:30 Report or some other **fest program like the Drum.
