The rationale behind the decision is more worrying than the dollar amount. The ABC received advice that they could be cojoined in the defamation action against Milligan despite the fact the matter related to material on Milligan's personal account and had nothing to do with the ABC. The government is too concerned with preserving the reputation of sleazy elements in its own ranks to make long overdue reform in this area. It's a government governing for itself not the people.
