sass - the sell order was there for most of the trading day, nothing stopping the buyers from buying into it but no one did. I was watching the action since the morning and no one was buying into it even when the bid/ask was at 2.51-2.52, the fact is had there been more buyers the 2.53 price would have hit, but since no one was buying the price continue its gradual drop.
I think you got the price action wrong way around, the price started to rise AFTER the sell order was remove i.e. traders like myself anticipate the price would make a small recovery so we buy it up, and it did recover, but it struggle to break the 2.53 mark without the large sell order.
