    The USA and France have no "honours system" only military medals.

    We are an egalitarian society, bunyip knighthoods on the "king's birthday" are repugnant. Full marks to Paul Keating for knocking his back. How can the socialist Dan Andrew's accept one with a straight face?

    Australia should follow suit. Politicians, entertainers and sportspeople get enough recognition.
