I also worked with the indigenous (housing and infrastructure) and they were very nice while I was able to provide the goods and services they needed..
Once the cash flow dried up they went straight to the media and complained that funding was cut on aboriginal programs. They could not even wait for me to get out of the room before they were onto Channels 9, 7 etc.
Yes it was - but funding was cut on all programs because of budget constraints across the board. But that did not wash with the Aboriginals.
They could not care less that we were shutting down programs and letting staff go as long as they got what they wanted NOW!!.
That experience taught me - Never get between an Aboriginal and his handout.
