So our capital cities are each to have aboriginal names.
What a load of bull.
There were no aboriginal cities, not even towns or villages despite what Uncle Bruce Pascoe says.
Perhaps current aboriginals remember the ancient name for a river, hill or lake, I doubt it, but our cities are tens of kilometres in diameter. The aboriginals had no names for these cities.
As for singing our national anthem in aboriginal, what a joke.
There were no aboriginal words for "wealth for toil".
There wasn't even a major aboriginal language. There were hundreds of "languages" spoken by waring family groups.
As for the continuity of language or history, it's very doubtful. While we are too polite to even test it I doubt a message given to one aboriginal speaker, passed to another then retold in English would be anything like the original.
Spelling of aboriginal place names, dreamtime "stories", very pale aboriginals, mythical snakes turning up on development sites.
Time for some "truth telling".
