Don't be naive; JP is bound to get a nice payout one way or another.
The below is speculative only, but is it really that far-fetched?
JP is likely to land a well-paid job at Energy X, along with significant equity in the company.
He's committed to the project and eager to bring it to production. Do you think it matters to him if it is as a part of Galan or as a major shareholder of Energy X?
Without the hassle of dealing with the ASX or disgruntled shareholders, he'll have a bigger slice of the pie and the freedom to run the company as his own, without any interference.
This could explain why he kept buying shares, even as their value dropped shortly after his purchase.
