    I don't think there's any 'problem' as such, it's just natural and inevitable that most fruit picking jobs will be picked up by backpackers.

    It's not that Aussies are lazy, it's just most of us want stable ongoing employment, while backpackers want the short-term employment that fruit picking provides. And nowadays with cheap international travel, there's enough supply of backpackers to fill the demand. Pretty simple imo
