Just to clarify some misconceptions in previous posts. NIC doesn't export finished product (whatever is meant by that term) or NPI.
Its RKEF lines produce a molten form of NPI that is sold within the IMIP to the stainless steel plant.
NIC gets paid for the nickel content in the NPI. Its payabilities are far superior to concentrate producers because it is delivering an NPI that is
c.12-14% nickel with most of the balance being iron. The stainless plant is happy to pay near enough to the LME nickel price because it is essentially getting its iron units for nothing.
The stainless plant produces slab and HRC which are then exported into global markets.
