At the Mazda dealer where I bought my CX5 a lady traded in a 3 year old black Mazda 3 for a new one.

The dealer didn't check the trade in as it was only 3 years old, but when the dealer went to drive it the engine was stuffed ... no oil in the engine.

It had never been serviced in 3 years when they checked the records.

The lady had long gone with her new one.

One of the mechanics there bought it and got a cheap deal, but was going to put a wrecking yard engine in it and keep it.
