It is interesting, when reading the article, that the range of possibilities for UCG is not well understood. Most of the article is comparing the economics of traditional gas and CSG to gas from UCG .... misses the point big time.
The speculation that Abramovich is here to try a take-over doesn't seem credible. I think the statements around investing and JV are far more likely. Abramovich has a synergy with AFC. He wouldn't be buying into that venture unless he shared, to some degree, a similar view about how the World is going to meet its future energy needs.
The big future for UCG is the production of high quality liquid fuels [in particular aviation] and Linc has progressed that much further than anyone else as far as I can tell.
We might be seeing the beginning of a new deal in the works, but the short term benefit is suddenly, now, UCG and Linc is on the radar.
