We are entering a mental depression. I do not believe we are entering depression from an economic perspective. Businesses are carrying on, contract jobs are available, people are still eating and shopping (maybe a bit careful these days).
I just do not buy the gloom and doom story. The selling is because of hedge funds needing money for redemption. In fact, some hedge funds have refused to honor and put them on hold for two years. They know that they are selling at ridiculous market prices.
Walmart just put a bid for Long. There are plenty of money out there -just on sidelines. Everyone wants to buy at the bottom.
The day when people feel safe and bottom is here - we will see money pouring back to the equities. Term deposit will not be attractive if interest rate starts to come down more. Even some superannuation funds are unable to stay in cash forever - they have mandate to put the money to use.
