Here is some absolute truth...well past time to accept it, @williakHistory shows that the Palestinian “resistance” wasreally resistance to the very existence of the state of Israel from the day ofits birth in 1948. Prior to that, the brutal resistance against Jews in the region was clear — from the Arab Revolt to the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem’s pact withHitler to obliterate the Jews and keep them out of theregion.
Fast forward to the immediate attack against Israelby its neighboring Arab States upon the declaration of Israeli independence in1948, followed by another planned attack in 1967 (the Six-Day War), and yetanother joint Arab surprise attack in 1973 (the Yom Kippur War). The goal hasalways been to obliterate the state of Israel, as is specified in the PLO’soriginal mandate, and the charters of Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad. Thesehistoric facts are ignored by too many people.
Given these realities, the only negotiations thatwould satisfy the Palestinians would be those that result in a one-statesolution, that is, a Palestinian state that completely obliterates Israel. Thelatest statement from the Palestinians that Israel election results “won’tchange a thing” is true from their perspective, because Israel isn’t goinganywhere. There is nothing an Israeli leader could possibly do to satisfy thePalestinians, because the problem is its very existence. Since the Jewish stateis there to stay, the Palestinians will forever be at war, forever perpetuatingvictimhood propaganda against the Jewish state.
