Swoody I do not think you understand Shorting properly (The softness in the price is likely the shorters exiting)!!!

Shorters borrow another person shares and sell them on the basis that the SP will fall thus enabling them to buy back the sold shares and repay the lender as well as retaining the margin in the fall. If shorters are exiting they are buying shares at best available price which should help to increase the share price.
