They need to drop the ethics rubbish and offer adequate incentive to achieve an optimal participation rate. Given the fast track status and importance of success, I believe it is ethically responsible to maximise participation considering the high death rate in this field. Perhaps the trial supervisor should attend some funerals to help balance their ethics dilemma.
