I’ve listened to both the Citi and Evercore healthcare conference interviews this week with Acadia management.
Some points of note for me….
- Business development was talked up by both the CEO and CFO. Despite the recent deal with Saniona, comment was that Acadia is “actively looking”, has “strong interest”, has “the appetite and capacity for more…for greater volume and greater amount”.
- Despite Acadia’s pipeline being discussed in both interviews, NNZ-2591 in Rett syndrome or Fragile-X was not mentioned once.
- When asked what she felt was the most unappreciated aspect of Acadia, Catherine Owen Adams nominated the company’s pipeline and specifically DayBue. She said that she believes that the market is underestimating the extent to which DayBue sales can still be grown.
- Two key strategies identified for growing DayBue sales will be
- “bringing the data to life” - use of the growing body of real world efficacy data to highlight the continuing meaningful improvements seen in patients as their treatment progresses. As stated in the Citi interview, one patient who is now 4 years into treatment continues to show new improvements. Catherine Owen Adams said that it has only been recently that the company has been in the position to share this story of “compounding efficacy”.
- putting more effort into working closely with patients, families and their doctors to assist them through the first 3-4 “critical” months of treatment.
