For kiwi shareholders a takeover/ transfer of Neuren to the US would be a disaster. My (somewhat limited, and I may be wrong) understanding of the difference in tax treatment of Neuren as a new zealand registered company on the ASX and Neuren as an american company on the US exchange... basically capital gains on the ASX are not taxable, whereas as a US company, it would be subject to tax annually on 5% of the value of the shareholding regardless, under the NZ FIF Foreign Investment Fund legislation.
