Really,you give the accc to much credit.
Not sure if this has been posted before,i did know tpg had bought some 3.6ghz,i was surprised the purchase by tpg was in partnership with vodafone/hutchinson and listed as mobile jv p/l.
And specifically approved by the accc.
So my obvious question is y didn't tpg and vodafone/hutchinson just continue these jv agreements.
Also vodafone gives tpg access to re sell its mobile network in order to provide the bundling advantage.Nothing would have stopped tpg giving access to vodafone to take advantage of tpg's 26% fixed market as in bundling tpg's fixed scale with vodafones mobile.ie both tpg and vodafone would have had the bundling advantage to compete with tls and optus.
I mean they were so so close to establishing a merger that the accc could not have unscrambled it.They could still just not call it a merger,it appears the dh accc sees a difference between jv and merger.
just my opinion.
ps and some may wonder y as a tls shareholder i want tls to have to deal with the accc as little as possible.
Bottom line,telcos r not allowed to talk to each other regarding spectrum auctions,but it appears the accc approved of tpg and vodafone bidding for this 3.6ghz spectrum as a jv.
