This is good news, though taken with a grain of salt, given that it comes from a Chinese government source.
To me, rather than the actual milestone being reached the following are noteworthy:
"... to accelerate the advancement of the “energy revolution”; to accelerate the low-carbon transformation in “key areas”; to promote “green” and low-carbon technological innovation; and to strengthen the improvement of “green” and low-carbon policies."
Before dismissing these words as empty state propaganda or greenwashing, to me they highlight both recognition of a problem that requires action as well as recognising the urgency for any action to be taken - hence the desire to "accelerate" this transition.
Miles ahead of some of the Neanderthalian thoughts expressed on this thread.
