The figure below indicates where savings are coming from. Though the study comes out of Canada, I believe the currency quoted is US$ , though I am not 100% certain. There are other studies that came up with similar order of magnitude values.

In the article the authors explain that the grid benefit wouldn't only be attainable with bi-directional charging ability.

Interestingly, in the context of heightened national security concerns over recent times, the "National Security" benefit exceeds the "Health Impacts" in this study... by a factor of 2[!].

For every EV not bought because of the EV only road tax, all of the above benefits are forgone.

Countered by - I need to put a charger in my house ---less up front fee of $3,000. So a 10 year saving of $7k.

I spill that at the bar over 10 years.

I can also arge the environment & helath impacts.

When you are charging onthe road ot get anywhere as you allowing of the extra coffee at each stop - $10 for 2 coffees, 5 times a week $50 a week for coffe (whilst charging)*52 weeks *10 years = $ 26,000 ooooopppppssss what savings?

Net loss of $19k over 10 years??? Not worth it.
