Your highlighted excerpt is the perfect illustration of what is wrong with the anti-renewable energy mob.
AEMO is clearly stating that we need to accelerate the investment and immediate construction of major renewable energy and storage capacity.
I know, and every leftist socialist greenie knows that given the obstruction to this inevitable transition over the last 20 years, we are not in a position to simply switch off all coal, gas and distillate fuels, as of today.
It does require planning and preparation.
Now, we all know that there was no planning and preparation over the last couple of decades, when Australia basically went without an energy policy.
Labour seems to want to suggest that that this has now changed - though the lack of progress with the transition, since Labour has come into power, suggests otherwise.
Obviously, the key message that AEMO sent was "The need for new generation, transmission and other solutions" (and to be clear, that means renewable energy and not nuclear).
If you think that any reference to the obvious "ongoing availability of coal..." is an endorsement of longer term reliance on fossil fuel generation, not only do you misrepresent what AEMO is saying, but highlight your own ignorance.
