OK, so how does the temperature in the thermosphere affect the mesosphere, considering the discrete band at the interface between thermo and meso? If this band is freezing (and remains unchanged) how does the temp up there get through the band. And so on, down through the interfaces between meso and strat (0 deg C) and strat and trop (~ -45 deg C)?
How is the trop affected? How is surface temp affected by miniscule (theoretical) changes in layers 10s of kilometres above?
Keep in mind that the saturation effect is in play in the trop, just as that you tube guy in Dave's post admits. And keep in mind that the temperatures within these layers are massively different...
