Locals reported hearing cracks and bangs from the blaze several streets away.
The cause has not yet been officially determined.
However, Watson told 9News, the occupants of the destroyed home said there had been a scooter charging indoors, that had been on fire when the residents fled.
He said there had been a number of fires sparked by scooter batteries recently.
