the gas price rise (from Russia/Ukraine) would have been zero problem if Australia had at least had a guaranteed domestic supply AND a price cap for domestic supply in it's dealings when allowing foreign companies to harvest the vast gas resources of Australia
let alone thinking about the commonwealth government investing a fraction of it's trillion dollar submarine folly and having developed the entire NW shelf gas itself and kept full ownership -
which would have given Aussies cheap gas, plentiful gas AND the mother of all massive profits which would have gone into a real national wealth fund - making Australians truly wealthy instead of fake wealthy with high house prices
such is a spectacular lack of vision ---------- what an amazing 100% waste of massively valuable natural assets - gifted to foreigners
