I SAW THE DEATH OF NATURE
    By Save Scotland's Countryside.
(Photo showing some of the Viking wind farm turbines on Shetland - see our album The Destruction of Shetland.)
I saw the death of nature,
    Flashing in the sky.
Then a bird dropped down before me.
It gave no song or cry.
    Its feathers floated roundabout.
    Like devils in the wind-
The robot machines seemed to shout
    “Apocalypse, begin!”
I used to wander through the country
In a rapture, in a daze,
In nature’s glory filled with beauty,
The joy would rush in waves.
A smile was stretched out on my face,
As I sauntered through the hills.
I felt connected, and at peace.
    And time itself stood still.
But there’s a screaming in the ocean now.
And that flashing in the sky.
There are bodies built up on the beach.
And this bird that will not fly.
I see the death of nature.
I can feel the death of us.
I hear the death of poetry.
    Coming to all of us.
Our land used to be sacred.
Now it’s turning to a grave.
    Concrete, metals blast the Earth
And they say - “They want it saved.”
I saw the death of nature,
    Flashing in the sky.
But the rich keep getting richer,
And the spirit goes to die.
