I believe the road to sustainability is a long and difficult path.
Surely, there must be many better ways to deal with the old blades than putting them in landfill - indeed, in future I could imagine that people will dig out the old blades from landfill sites once better ways of repurposing/recycling have been developed.
We will live in an ever more resource constrained world.
Ideally, almost everything ought to be recycled rather than repurposed (including EV batteries). Once all our energy is from renewable energy, that will solve a lot of our problems.
Getting there will take decades. I hope we get there one day... ideally before we have completely ruined our little blue planet. It will require first and foremost acknowledgement that sustainability has to be the aim.
