The fact that EVs are so much simpler than ICE cars, yet so much more efficient makes the transition a no brainer - especially with improving battery technology.
My guess is that it will only take very few decades for EVs to push ICE cars out of the way. As that becomes clearer to the general population and people hold out buying their next car - i.e. first EV - there is going to be considerable turmoil...
Australian citizens will depend on the good planning and foresight of the current crop of politicians to make this transition as smooth as possible.
