    It is interesting to see the luddites come out from under their rocks.

    One thing that works against them though is history.

    It's like they believe that industry hasn't evolved to get to the point it is today. That we can't invent new things and improve the things we have. And yet , every single day we see a new development or application in technology.

    Self driving trucks.

    Here's a couple of interesting facts about trucks in the US.

    95% of accidents are caused by human error.

    40% of operational costs are drivers.

    So, there's clearly a big driver ( pardon the pun smile.png ) for insurance companies and operators to embrace the change. In the US, similar to Australia, there is a massive turnover of truck drivers. In the US it's over 90% per year !!!

    Just like any other transport issue , technology will solve the problem. I expect we'll see certain major routes, e.g. Mel/Syd, utilising self drive trucks in the not to distant future. Possibly electric trucks using an automated battery swap half way along.

    Here's a little reflection of where we've come from. The good old days when steam trains were first invented.
