I think there are advantages in ice disappearing from the Arctic. One thing though is that the alarmist view if a catastrophic rise in sea levels will not happen - we have discussed this previously re the Arctic (Antarctic is a different issue altogether). There will be great advantages in that it will unlock vast resources and make the Ruskies the food basket of the world.
One possible side-effect though - may lead to a world war for Ruskie resources but that could happen with or without Arctic melt..
