Solar DISASTER
Sydney apartment block's decision to go solar leads to $200,000 nightmare
David Faulkner was among 64 unit owners at a building in Ryde in Sydney's north-west who bought into the dream of solar panels - short-term financial pain for long-term gain.
They paid for installation of solar panels, expecting to save at least $7000 to $8000 a year on power bills.
But they say the solar system died the week after installation - and then brought them even more costs.
The panels had to be taken off the roof, causing it to also need to be repaired.
How long till they recoup the C02 cost...let alone the dollars lost
